Description

  • ink on paper with leather binding
Arabic manuscript on thick cream paper, 7 leaves plus 6 flyleaves, 7 lines to the page, written in fine rayhan script in black ink, verses separated by lobed gold florets pointed in red and blue, margins ruled in gold and blue, colophon sprinkled with gold, opening page with illuminated headpiece in blue and two tones of gold, comprising scrolling leafy flowers and split-palmettes, the text on ff.1b and 2a within cloud bands against a gold ground sprinkled with flowers, later binding applied with cream paper flecked with gold, with gilt-scrolling borders 

Condition

In good overall condition, pages slightly thumbed, ink bold and illumination bright, pages slightly cropped to accommodate replacement binding, as viewed.
