Condition

Surface only slightly weathered overall, clearly showing large/coarse-grained Greek island marble. On side not shown in printed catalogue main photo, outside of rim is abraded and chipped, handles are missing altogether, and body shows a non-structural stress-crack as well as an area of pitting. Minor chips and abrasions along and across ridges of strigillation pattern. Marble foot was made separately in antiquity and is now lost. Object is well balanced and stands up by itself, but it still needs a new base to stand on securely.
