Catalogue Note

The present works are two of four drawings Associated American Artists commissioned from Grant Wood as designs for a series of lithographs. The lithographs, which were hand-colored by Wood's sister, Nan, and her husband, were sold through Associated American Artists' mail order catalogue to great success. Wood ultimately gaveĀ the present works to the founder of Associated American Artists, Maurice Liederman. The other two drawings, Fruits and Vegetables, are now in the collection of the Hood Museum of Art at Dartmouth College, Hanover, New Hampshire.
