Sotheby's, Aboriginal Art, Melbourne, 26 July 2004, Lot 101
Private collection, France

When last sold at Sotheby’s, the vendor who had acquired the work directly from the artist in Papunya in 1977, advised that the painting depicted the artist’s…’father and grandfather as walking skeletons’. As such, this work is another example of the Father/Son/Grandfather Dreaming depicted in the previous lot.

Condition

Painted on a canvas board and housed in a minimalist wooden box frame. The lower left hand corner, the canvas is bent and lifting from the supporting board. No repairs or restorations and paint appears in a good and stable condition.
