Condition

Overall in very good condition. With upwards of approximately 75 cracks to the glass tiles dispersed throughout the shade, which is to be expected for this model considering the vast number of individual pieces of glass required to execute this intricate pattern and monumental shade. Many of these hairlines are small and minor; there are a few instances of multiple hairlines to individual glass tiles, all which appear stable. Three isolated glass tiles in the upper mid-section of the shade appear to have been re-set and the glass is possibly replaced, though it appears to be period Tiffany glass. With traces of light surface soiling concentrated around the perimeter edges of the lead lines. The shade leading is exceptionally fine and exquisitely rendered, and displays a rich and vibrant russet brown and green patina. The patinated bronze surfaces of the Senior floor lamp display deep and rich tonalities of green and russet brown. The cushion base shows minimal wear with a few occasional light surface scratches, some surface abrasions to the outer perimeter contours of the cushion, and with light surface soiling in the recessed contours consistent with age and gentle use. With some isolated surface oxidation to the production seam on the base standard just above the cushion. Five of the six sockets and paddle switches have been replaced with old complementary Bryant sockets. With a replaced “Pig Tail” finial. The finial with some minor shallow surface bruises along the outer perimeter contours, and with some minor stress and patina loss to the upper pig tail. The Warshawsky Oriental Poppy is one of the most outstanding examples known of this glorious floral design, displaying a stunning artistic glass selection. Nearly every decorative technique of favrile glass is incorporated throughout the shade, including striated, mottled, and textured “rippled” glass, imparting the shade with tremendous visual interest and movement. The lamp presents beautifully, and the overall visual effect is highly impressionistic and painterly, capturing the essence of light radiating through the flower blossoms and foliage.
