Condition

Overall in very good condition. There are no visible cracks to the glass tiles throughout the shade. The top aperture of the shade appears to be slightly out of round. The leaded glass with some surface soiling to the recessed contours of the shade leading and natural folds of the glass, consistent with age and gentle use. The glass with some small, scattered air bubble and particulate inclusions, inherent in the making and not at all visually detracting. The high points of the bronze “Spider” armature on the shade with light rubbing, gentle wear and some scattered minor losses to the patina. The patinated bronze surfaces of the “Mushroom” base display a rich russet brown and green patina. The bronze surfaces show minimal surface wear, light rubbing, minor abrasions to the outer perimeter of the base cushion, and minor surface soiling in the recessed contours of the design, consistent with age and gentle use. All three sockets and paddle switches appear to be original and undisturbed. The period “Spider” finial displays a closely corresponding patina to the base and is assumingly original to the lamp. The outer perimeter of the base is lacking a cord guide. A superb example of the model displaying an outstanding highly-saturated glass selection. The shade shows a striking color transition from vibrant red to fiery orange to yellow-orange. When viewed firsthand the shade is more luminous and warm in tonality than seen in the main catalogue illustration, which is slightly cool and over-saturated. An interesting note: Roy Warshawsky suspended the miniature “Moth” Pendant (lot 8) from the upper finial of this lamp.
