Description

  • 220cm. high, 80cm wide; 7ft. 2½in., 2ft. 7½in.
the cresting in the form of a flaming athénienne with lion masks and trails of husks above a rectangular verre eglomisé panel decorated with entwined berries and leaves, the sides with trails of husks, the rectangular plate within a beaded and verre eglomisé borders decorated with a foliate entwined thyrsus on acanthus carved paw feet

Condition

In overall good conserved condition. The plinth below the anthénienne lacks gilding but this can easily be touched up . Evidence of old very minor worm which appears to be no longer active. There are some minor losses to the acanthus leaves above the right foot which can be touched up with gilding. Some very minor rubbing to the gilding on the glass panels on the lower section with some very minor degradation on some of the panels. There is an old triangular shaped restoration to the bottom left panel. Its possible that the verre eglomisé panel below the cresting in a later replacement. Old very minor chips commensurate with age and normal usage. Gilding refreshed in parts.
