Description

the lobed form with barbed rim, tapering towards the base, the transparent stone vessel set with gilt mounts to the rim and base joined by four finely cast phoenix surmounting crouching leonine-form feet, the base incised at the top with a lush peony bloom amidst scrolling leaves, the underside with a four-character Qianlong mark within a double square

Condition

The rock crystal with two fissures to the base, each extending up the side of the vessel. The stone with some scattered cloudy inclusions. The gilt metal mounts are quite worn, some of the eagles' wings are bent and there are losses to the mounts around the base. The metal with some green accretions adhered between the base of the crystal washer and the foliate-incised metal mount and under the rim as well.
