There is a coating on the base. There is light wear to the gilding, and age related surface wear. Areas of the surface have a nice reddish patina. Overall the piece appears to be in good condition.

Catalogue Note

A similar example with Arabic inscriptions without gilding, and incised lotus spray around the neck is illustrated in Sydney L. Moss, Emperor, Scholar, Artisan, Monk, London, 1984, no. 119. In the description of that vase, the inscriptions are translated as 'Glory to God' and 'Praise to God'.
