circular, the surface enamelled in translucent strawberry red over concentric wavy engine-turning, the seed pearl bezel within radiating gold oak leaf sprays, chased leaf tip border, silver scroll strut, later faux ivory back, struck with workmaster's initials and Fabergé in Cyrillic, 88 standard, scratched inventory number 52723, struck number 5255, French control mark

Provenance

Possibly purchased by the current owner's mother from Wartski, London, in the 1930s, or acquired from her friend, Grand Duchess Xenia Alexandrovna (1875-1960)

Condition

The enamel is in excellent original condition and is a desirable, vivid colour. As noted in the catalogue description, the original ivory back has been replaced with faux ivory. The tips of some of the oak leaf sprays are lacking, as visible in the catalogue photo. One screw at the back is loose. The object could do with a professional clean. The mechanism does not appear to be in working order.
