Kanawha was the name of the luxury yacht built in 1899 for industrialist and financier Henry Huttleston Rogers (1840–1909). Rogers made his fortune in the oil refinery business and joined with John D. Rockefeller to establish Standard Oil, eventually serving as vice president and chairman to the company.
