Exhibited

Chicago Camera Club, Second Chicago International Photographic Salon, May - June 1930

Keighley, United Kingdom, 2nd Airedale International Exhibition of Photography, 1930

Condition

This early print, on matte-surface paper, is in generally very good condition. The print has very narrow margins and is mounted to black card and again to ivory, textured board. A few scattered, tiny deposits of the photographer's original retouching are visible only in raking light. There are two exhibition labels on the reverse of the mount for the Chicago and Keighley exhibitions as well as a printed label bearing the number '33.' The photographer's annotations in pencil on the reverse read: '"Curves" Hiromu Kira F. R. P. S. (Fellow of the Royal Photographic Society) 256 East First Street Los Angeles, Calif.' Also on the reverse in an unidentified hand: '9/2,' '2' (circled), 'K-166,' 'KI-3,' and '42-0051.' '150' is stamped in red ink. The ivory mount is age-darkened on the front and reverse, noticeably along the edges. There are scattered pin-point-sized dark spots and light soiling. There are a few very soft handling creases in the corners. There are hinge remnants on the reverse of the mount.
