The canvas has an old relining of finer weave, and is in good condition, and still quite tightly stretched. There is minor frame rubbing along the lower and upper edges that would need a small amount of straightforward retouching. The paint surface is in good state, with no loss of paint. There is a gentle craquelure forming throughout. The putti in the lower part, and the flowers they are holding, are very delicately painted. The sfumato in the right of the Virgin is also beautifully- preserved. Inspection under UV light shows small cosmetic retouchings to the clouds, on the putti's bodies, to the faces of the putti in the lower right, to the deep shadows of the Virgin's cloak, and a very small amount of restrengthening to the shadows on the Virgin's eyebrows and around her face. There are two small repaierd areas: both in the upper part of the canvas by the left and right edges. These restorations are recent and well - executed. This lot is offered in a moulded gilt frame, with an elegant pattern of overlapping leaves, also in good condition.
