Provenance
Bought by an ancestor of the present owner from the Koep family.
Condition
A retouching measuring 2 by 3 cm is visible above the head of the sitter and another, measuring 1 by 1 cm can be seen to the left of the script at the upper right. Inspection under UV reveals a cloudy varnish throughout and several retouchings to the face of the sitter. A retouching measuring approximately 26 by 18 cm is revealed at the level of the sitter's waist, as is scattered retouchings at the lower left edge of the composition. The work is offered in a gilt and black moulded frame in good condition.
