The canvas has not been lined. Ultra-violet light reveals numerous strokes and scattered small areas of retouching which have lightly discoloured and are faintly visible to the naked eye, notably near the framing edges and in the sky, including two small repairs patched on the reverse (one in the grass near the lower-centre and one in the sky in the upper-right). There is a small circa 1cm horizontal puncture with paint flaking in the sky in the upper-left quadrant and one or two other tiny spots of paint flaking. Presented in a modern gilt frame.
