Condition

Original canvas. There is an old patch to the reverse of the canvas beneath the artist's label which appears to correspond with an area of damage. On extremely close examination there appears to be some craquelure at the lower centre of the composition. There is some light surface dirt across the piece. With the exception of the above the work appears to be in very good condition. Ultraviolet light reveals an three areas of florescence beneath the seat of the chair and in the grey fabric which appears to correspond to the afore mentioned damage. There are several small flecks of florescence around the extreme edges of the work which appear to correspond with old areas of retouching. The work is float mounted in a wooden frame with a maroon raw silk mount. Please contact the department on +44 (0) 207 293 6424 if you have any questions regarding the present work.
