Exhibited

London, Alfred Brod Gallery, Annual Spring Exhibition of Old Master Paintings, 12 March - 24 April 1964, no. 7 (as Pieter Aertsen);
New Orleans, New Orleans Museum of Art, In the Eye of the Beholder: Northern Baroque Paintings from the Collection of Henry H. Weldon, 1997, no. 54 (as Unknown, Antwerp, 16th Century, Manner of Frans Floris I).

Condition

The painting is executed on a single piece of oak panel which is flat, stable, and cradled on the reverse. This painting is generally healthy condition with a good coloration and very few retouches overall. UV light reveals a few very minor retouches to the Child's forehead and shoulder, while the remainder of the figures have no retouches at all. There is a thin line of retouching along the left and extending one inch from the frame. This may be due to an isolated scratch in the paint surface. The painting could be hung and it's current condition. In a carved wood frame.
