The cushion modified brilliant-cut Fancy Deep Blue diamond weighing 9.54 carats, flanked by four rows of baguette diamonds weighing approximately .40 carat, size 5¾; 1940. Together with an alternate mounting, composed of 18 karat gold and platinum, designed as two interlocking bands, size 5½, signed Tiffany & Co.; 1972.

Provenance

Formerly From the Collection of Shirley Temple Black. Shirley's father, George Temple, gifted this ring to his then 12-year old daughter in 1940 at the completion of her film The Blue Bird.

Condition

In very good condition with with light surface wear to the mounting. Very minor evidence of sizing, reflecting a skilled hand. The diamonds are approximately F-G color, VVS-VS clarity. The second mounting, by Tiffany & Co. is 18K gold and platinum with a double yellow gold shank in a double, cross-over style with a platinum basket with split prongs. The inside of the shank is signed Tiffany in two places and one of the signatures is double struck. Images upon request from the Jewelry department. Accompanied by GIA report no. 5171186027 stating that the diamond is Fancy Deep Blue, Natural Color, VVS2 clarity. Together with the original working diagram stating that the diamond may be potentially Internally Flawless. Also with a letter from the GIA speaking to the rarity of Fancy Deep Blue diamonds.
