Description

  • gold, sapphire, diamond
Centering a cushion-cut sapphire weighing 5.61 carats, flanked by two old European-cut diamonds weighing approximately 2.25 carats, size 4¾.

Condition

In good condition with overall surface wear and thinning to the shank. Diamonds approximately I-J color; one approximately VS clarity, the other approximately SI clarity due to chipping. The sapphire is a vibrant medium-deep blue; internally eye-clean with a faint fingerprint near the girdle seen under 10x magnification. Moderate abrading to the facet junctions; minor scratching and nicking to the facets. Surface flaws not seen with the naked eye, but the stone might benefit from a gentle polish. The girdle is polished down to a slightly concave outline on either side of the sapphire in order to accommodate the closely-set diamonds, though not readily apparent. Accompanied by Gübelin report no. 16025295 stating the sapphire is of Kashmir origin, with no indications of heating.
