Description

  • gold, sapphire
The rectangular box enhanced on the front and reverse with enhanced diaperwork, the cover decorated with calibré-cut sapphires, the thumbpiece set with a half moon-shaped sapphire, gross weight approximately 158 dwts, numbered 61736 and 0363, with maker's mark, French workshop and assay marks and worn British hallmark; circa 1925.

Condition

In good overall condition with scratching, denting and wear to the chased diaperwork with the majority being found on the case's underside. The faceted sapphires are a well-matched, medium-deep blue; eye-clean to lightly included with minimal abrading to the facet junctions. The thumbpiece is composed of a thin medium-blue sapphire tablet with obvious color zoning. To open the case, press gently on the thumbpiece to avoid potential damage. The French workshop and assay marks--not mentioned in the printed catalogue--are located on the base's lip next to the 81738 numbering. The worn British hallmarks are located on the base's interior near the thumbpiece.
