Condition
This item was removed from the entrance hall of The Ivy and is showing typical signs of wear from regular use. There is a crack to the upper section and signs of repairs. Apparently, formerly with a panel back which are now lacking. The tole drip tray is very distressed and misshapen. Old marks, scuffs and scratches throughout commensurate with age and use. Would benefit from a clean and polish according to taste. Gallery inspection recommended.

Catalogue Note
This umbrella stand is in the distinctive 'Glasgow Style', and more specifically, relates to the work of the designer and architect George Henry Walton (1867-1933), a pioneer of the movement. The heart shaped handle seen on this lot was a feature of many of his pieces of seat furniture.
