8vo (176 x 118mm.), FIRST EDITION, FIRST BINDING (with initials "AS" at foot of spine and publisher's device in blind on the back), numerous illustrations, original magenta cloth decorated and lettered in black and gilt (based on illustration on p.301), gilt edges, binders ticket "Burn & Co." at end, contemporary inscription dated "March 26th 1874" on front free endpaper, edges of binding slightly worn, small chip to cloth on lower cover, interior hinges splitting, endpapers somewhat stained
