Catalogue Note

"After the period of the reliefs there are very few attempts to use the pictorial plane again. Perhaps this was because Camargo had moved by the early 1970s to a new understanding of 'in the round." In the majority of his sculptures from that period until his death, there is no 'right side' and no 'right way up.' There is of necessity a base, but there is no given plane of organization. The entire object is generated by the internal dynamic of a formal logic that seems to go back to the basic starting-point of identity and difference."
