Please be advised that bands made of materials derived from endangered or otherwise protected species (i.e. alligator and crocodile) are not sold with the watches and are for display purposes only. We reserve the right to remove these bands prior to shipping. Please note that the present lot is being offered in its original factory seal. Because the strap must be removed in order for the watch to be shipped out of the United States, the factory seal will need to be broken. Buyers should be aware that breaking the seal may cause the lot to decrease in value.

Catalogue Note

Accompanied by a Certificate of Origin confirming sale in 2013, instructions, booklets, two leather folders, Bulletin de Precision de Marche, presentation case and outer packaging.

Introduced in 2008, the reference 5207 features a minute repeater, tourbillon and instantaneous perpetual calendar functions. The watch took the brand’s top caliber engineers five years to develop.

Composed of 549 parts, the movement is developed based on the popular caliber R TO 27 PS which can be seen in the firm’s ref. 3939, but with the new perpetual-calendar module where two improvements to the complication were made. The month, day, date, and leap year are read in apertures, and unlike conventional indicators that can take hours to register a new date, all displays of the perpetual calendar advance instantaneously and synchronously at midnight. This is an extremely challenging additional complication based on the flawless interaction of 212 individual parts. The core of their invention is a mechanism consisting of levers and complex cams for which two patent applications were filed. The other two main functions of the ref. 5207, the sonority of the minute repeater and the accuracy of the tourbillon are, needless to say, also highly praised by collectors. The creation of this model is once again a testimony to the world that Patek Philippe continues to produce rare and precious timepieces which are legacies to be handed down from one generation to the next.

The present reference 5207, sold in 2013, is being offered in its original factory sealed box.
