Catalogue Note

Accompanied by a presentation box, Certificate of Origin, instruction manual and 2 booklets. Also with an Extract from the Archives confirming date of sale on December 17th, 2004.

Favored for its sporty, elegant design, Ref. 5070 is the second largest wristwatch produced by Patek Philippe, with its diameter 0.8mm shorter than the Sky Moon's.

The production of the Ref. 5070 in 1998 is recognized as Patek Philippe's return to production of chronograph watches. The last models were produced almost 30 years prior; the Ref. 1463 being the last one as its production halted in the late 1960s. The inspiration for these models was Ref. 2512, a split second chronograph produced by Patek Philippe between 1950 and 1952. The case and dial designs are very much alike. For an example of Ref. 2512, see Huber, M. & Banbery, A., Patek Philippe Wristwatches, Vol. 2, Second Edition, p. 274.
