Platinum-Topped Gold, Opal and Diamond Pendant-Brooch

The top centering an oval-shaped cabochon opal measuring approximately 12.3 by 9.4 by 3.2 mm, supporting a pear-shaped opal measuring approximately 15.7 by 9.9 by 3.3 mm, within a frame of scrollwork design decorated with diamond-set fringes and swags, set with pear-shaped, old European and single-cut diamonds weighing approximately 2.45 carats; circa 1905.

In very good condition particularly considering the age of the piece, with some evidence of tarnish to the mounting, mainly on the reverse. The two opals show a strong, attractive play of color, with the pear-shaped opal displaying stronger flashes of green and blue than the oval-shaped opal. Minute crazing visible under magnification, mostly confined to the underside. The diamonds are approximately H-I color, VS-SI clarity. Length of pendant-brooch approximately 2 inches.
