the shallow rounded sides rising from a short straight foot to an indented rim, the interior painted in a buff slip with a pair of opposed long-tailed phoenix, together with a stylised blossom and butterfly, all reserved on a black-glazed ground, the exterior covered with a similar black glaze stopping short of the foot revealing the light stoneware body

Purchased in Hong Kong, 1986. 

Condition

In good general condition, with a 0.5 cm polished kiln grit at the rim. An approximately 1.5 cm chip to the outer foot rim. Expected surface wear and minor firing imperfections.
