Catalogue Note

The present lot is one of forty unique tables created by Ron Arad for the Cartier installation in 1994. The organically shaped tables were arranged throughout the gallery to literally cover the space and reflect the nature and surroundings back at the viewer.  And while the result challenged the viewer’s sense of reality versus reflection, the tops also transformed the relationship of exterior and interior.  In 2005, Arad would revisit this exhibition concept; however, this time the tables literally climbed the walls, and reflected multiple planes at the viewer.
