Catalogue Note

With a Patek Philippe Certificate of Origin, an instruction manual and a presentation box.

To most watchmakers and watch connoisseurs, minute repeater is coveted as the ultimate single complication in watchmaking. To emanate exquisite resonance from such a small almost air tight case is not easy, let alone one that “tell” time accurately. Furthermore, over 100 components have to be combined to create a minute repeating mechanism alongside the rest of the watch movement.

The Patek Philippe Ref. 5078 that was first released in 2005 is a paragon of understatement. The minute repeating slide is discreetly hidden in the case flank revealing the talent of the complication only to true connoisseurs. The sound quality of all Patek Philippe’s minute repeaters are validated personally by the brand’s President, Thierry Stern, before they leave the atelier. Within the watch beats caliber R 27 PS, composed of 342 miniscule parts, its meticulously engineered and highly complex movement is easily admired through the sapphire crystal display back. This watch was first released with platinum case holding gleaming white enamel dial with black Roman numerals, later on black lacquered dial was added to the selection. According to our research, only approximately 100 pieces of Ref. 5078 have been produced.

This elegant timepiece is built to exacting standards and its sheer beauty is sure to captivate the most sophisticated and discerning collectors.
