Planche 24 - Spirou n° 938 - 12 avril 1956
(Dupuis - 1958)

Catalogue Note

The first three panels of this wonderful page magnify the rounded, powerful forms of the Berlier truck. The reader then loses sight of the action, only becoming aware of it through the three speech balloons, which accentuate the comical effect. In the rest of this scene from Les Pirates du silence, one of the great adventures of Spirou and Fantasio, the brilliant Franquin, assisted by Will on the scenery, gives free rein to his love of design and cars. Real "vacuum cleaners” of the trends and styles of their times, the two men are having a field day here. Franquin throws in the Marsupilami, just to enjoy giving the reader a treat! And all the rest of the "family" is there, in a beautiful American automobile of the 50s!
