A RARE SET OF FOUR UNDERGLAZE-BLUE AND BISCUIT-CARVED 'FOUR SEASONS' PANELS LATE 19TH / EARLY 20TH CENTURY

each of rectangular outline, the center with a fan-shaped reserve of carved white biscuit against a cobalt ground depicting birds and flowers of the four seasons, each against a white glazed ground, surrounded by an archaistic border of angular scrolling kuilong in underglaze blue, wood frame (4)

A panel similar to the present with carved birds and flowers was sold Christie's New York, 15th September 2009, lot 273.  Another example of this type but with a carved landscape within a circular reserve was sold in these rooms 17th / 18th September 2013, lot 368.
