the rounded sides rising from a tapered foot to a waisted neck and rolled rim, painted with a wide central band of a continuous scene of peacocks and birds in a garden under a tree and beside peony, with roundels of peony on a diaper ground at the shoulder, below a band of classic scroll at the rim and a band of lappets at the foot

Condition

This jar is in good condition, but does have some fritting to the rim relating to its manufacture. There is also a number of scratches to the surface of the glaze to the sides which is consistent with its age and some iron spots and burst bubbles to the glaze. The blue is a little lighter than in the catalogue illustration.
