Very good condition overall. Wear consistent with age and use within the culture. Two hairline cracks to the back and side with a loss behind the proper left leg. Three missing toes. Ritual charge preserved.

Catalogue Note
Cette statuette biteki se distingue par sa dimension - l'une des plus grandes du corpus - et par le très grand raffinement de sa sculpture. Sa charge bilongo (ici conservée) "assurait son pouvoir contre les maléfices des sorciers et des esprits malveillants" (Felix, Art & Kongo, 1985, p. 196). Ses attributs (calebasse et couteau) la destinaient à la protection de la chasse.
