Condition

The following condition report was kindly provided by Simon Parkes Art Conservation, Inc.: This painting is restored and should be hung in its current condition. The canvas is unlined. The paint layer is clean. There are a couple of spots of retouching in the upper left sky. The figure group on the left and the maid show no retouches. There is a group of retouches above the basket on the table, which corresponds either to a pentimenti or a small paint loss. The only real restorations are above and within the chair in the lower right, where a fairly large area of about 6 by 4 inches has been restored, and another area of restoration of about 4 by 2 inches between this chair and the tablecloth. These restorations are isolated, and the condition is otherwise lovely.
