The canvas is lined. A surface abrasion in the sky to the left of the red and yellow flag of the right hand ship. Some craquelure and paint separation in the sea by lower edge, which is stable. Overall the work appears in good condition. Under ultraviolet light there are some localised areas of retouching in the sea and retouchings to the edges. There appears to be a diagonal area or retouching to the centre cloud and there is a horizontal area of retouching to a tear to the cloud on right near the yellow and red, approx. 6in long.
