RARE IMAGES OF NINGPO. The album contains 15 portraits, the remainder being studies of Chinese temples and topographical views including a 2-part panorama of the Island of Chusan. Uncommon images include 'Custom House Staff engaged at Ningpo 1876', 'Missionaries & preachers of the Free Church Mission in Ningpo', a cargo junk, 'Chinese artillery drilled by Englishmen', 'Chinese coolies carrying a block of stone from a quarry', 'a Chinese Mandarin in mufti', and 'Abbot and senior priest at Temple Tien Long'. The compiler was possibly an American missionary at Ningpo.
