Catalogue Note

Designed in the year of Stalin's death and fulfilling the aesthetic demands of High Stalinism, this series of figures, on which Brzhezitskaia worked beside Nina Malysheva, Olga Bogdanova and Galina Chechulina, was criticized in the Thaw Period as being excessive for newly modern and stringent interiors; see V. Popov, "Sovetskoe Dulevo," Dekorativnoe iskusstvo SSSR 1957, no. 1, p. 82.
