Catalogue Note

From the closet of a frontman and eccentric dresser.

Sly Stone’s wardrobe as lead singer for the immensely influential San Francisco soul/funk band Sly and the Family Stone is among the most iconic of the era. This particular studded leather stage vest, with its garish feather and beads, is a classic and instantly recognizable example of the psychedelic fashion Sly and the Family Stone sported in efforts to liven up their performances and differentiate them from the buttoned up Motown crowd also prevelant on the R&B charts.
