Condition

The relining is firm and stable. the background areas are somewhat thin and the browns in the upper background have sunken, making this area less defined. the figure is well preserved aside from a bit of thinness in bottom of hair and overall the image reads well. there is an old discolored retouch in the costume at center and another vertical retouch (about 4 in. long) in left sleeve over a possible old repaired tear. small surface scratch in hair at right side near shoulder. there is very little visible under UV light due to the old varnish. besides the two areas mentioned above, there appears to be an area of reworking on right hand. In a carved and gilt wood frame with chips and losses.
