Condition

The panel is flat, cradled on the reverse, and appears to made up of a single, unbeveled board. There is a very fine crack running vertically from the upper edge at right, approximately 2 in. in length and a very minor loss to the background below the chair at left. The paint surface is good overall with beautifully preserved detail in the figure and dog. The background is a little worn and the finials of the bed at right are somewhat abraded. Inspection under UV reveals scattered feathered retouching in the background and red curtain and strengthening to the strings and neck of the lute, the figure however appears to be largely untouched. Offered unframed.
