Condition

Relief mounted on later wood backing, backing with minor worm and losses, particularly to top edge, newspaper or catalogue clippings affixed to reverse. Very minor losses, including to volute on back of chariot and reins, losses to upper corners affecting the top of one horse's head. Some remains of clear lacquer on background. Vertical split extending from bottom edge, and another through flames in front of chariot, two very minor vertical splits through rays at top edge and another separating foremost horse from his tail. Otherwise minor chips and losses throughout. With black metal stand. Beautifully carved.
