Condition

The painting has an old glue relining and the canvas is very taut over the stretcher. While there remains clear detail in the figures, the paint surface is perhaps a little pressed and somethat thin in the sky and wall behind. A milky varnish impedes a clear view under UV, though some minor retouches are visible, including those in the sleeve and skirt of the Madonna and the wall to the left of Saint Anne. There appears to be an old repaired horizontal tear (approx. 1 in.) in the foliage, upper center. There appear to be two further repaired losses (of approx. 1/4 in.) below Saint Anne's foot and in her knee. The painting would benefit from a light clean and revarnish. Offered in an elaborate carved gilt wood frame.
