Condition
Laid down . Surface abraded, especially at top and left margins. Trace of fold in the middle where the paper has cracked in places. A repaired loss in middle at the right margin. Losses and a repair at the top near the left corner. Sold mounted and framed in a modern, wooden frame.

Catalogue Note
The note in the Avnet exhibition catalogue of 1968 records that Philip Pouncey attributed the drawing to Samacchini and recognized that it is almost an exact study for a painting in the Borghese Gallery, Rome (fig. 1).1
