Catalogue Note

The attribution to Gaetano Zompini was first suggested by J. Byam Shaw.  Zompini's style was very influenced by that of Sebastiano Ricci.  This can be clearly seen here both in the subject matter and in the free and vibrant handling of the pen and ink.
