Description

  • Adriaen Brouwer
  • Tavern scene with smokers and drinkers by an open fire
  • oil on panel

Condition

The panel support is flat and uncradled. The paint surface is generally in very nice condition, but with some signs of wear in some of the more thinly painted areas such as figure of the seated drinking man. The paint fluoresces irregularly under ultra violet light, and though no major damages or losses are apparent, some degree of local retouching should be presumed. There has been some minor abrasion caused by movement in the frame. Offred in a later gilt wood frame with punched decoration.
