Condition
The canvas has been relined, and is in fine condition. Visible to the naked eye are a few discoloured small sport retouchings: on the Saint's left and right forearms, on his right thigh, in the broken tree stump left and above the rock on the right. There is craquelure throughout, but the paint surface is secure
Inspection under UV light shows frame rubbing on upper and right edges, and a restored leaf upper right also along the edge. Also a few specks on the saint's abdomen, and a repaired tear in the canvas in the lower part towards the right of the centre. This tear has been well- restored and is not detectable by the naked eye.
This lot is offered in an old wood frame, painted with black and gold design, and in fine condition.
