Condition

Illustration is accurate. Beautiful and rare model in good condition. Lavish chasing; as expected, gilding slightly rubbed on the more exposed areas. Dial in good condition. Movement is complete and looks as though it would run. No pendulum. Very desirable, to recommend.

Catalogue Note

Jean-Joseph de Saint-Germain (1719-1791) fut enregistré en 1748 comme maître fondeur en terre et en sable. En 1765, il fut élu juré de la corporation des bronziers.

Un modèle identique avec un mouvement de J-B du Tertre est conservé dans le palais royal Lazienki à Varsovie. Un autre avec un mouvement de Gallois est illustré dans P. Kjellberg, Encyclopédie de la Pendule Française, Paris, 1997, p.125.
