Condition

Original canvas. The canvas undulates slightly in the lower half of the composition, most noticeably to the bottom left hand corner. There are pin holes visible in all four corners, as well as to the centre of the upper edge. There is a very minor area of light rubbing to the extreme upper right hand edge, most probably in line with a previous framing. Elsewhere there are a couple of very minor spots of isolated craquelure to the upper left hand quadrant, including a fine line to the upper extreme left hand edge, in line with the stretcher bar. This excepting the work appears in very good overall condition. Ultraviolet light reveals areas of fluorescence and possible retouchings to the sky. These have all been very sensitively executed. Housed in an ornate gilt and plaster frame. Please telephone the department on +44 (0) 207 293 6424 if you have any questions regarding the present lot.
