the sculpted rose quartz sea shell accented by numerous French-cut sapphires, with French assay and partial maker's mark for Société Groenë et Darde; circa 1932-1940.

Condition

In good condition overall. There are a few minute chips to the surface of the high points of the carving and an interesting internal fissure pattern to the whorl of the shell. Sapphires are a medium-deep blue color and are good clarity. The brooch is less salmon colored than pictured in the printed catalogue, more of a powdery pink color. Accompanied by Certificate of Authenticity no. B48008132014 from Belperron stating that this brooch was manufactured in Paris between 1932 and 1940 by the company B. Herz from a design by Suzanne Belperron. Dimensions approximately 1 3/4 x 7/8 inches.
