Centering a circular gold plaque depicting a winged bull with the head of an Assyrian, quartered by palmettes, decorated throughout with twisted gold wire and fine granulation in a scrolling motif, the reverse fitted with a glazed compartment, gross weight approximately 23 dwts, internal circumference 6½ inches; circa 1870. With a 19th century case stamped “W”, possibly for Wheeler and Oliver, one of the firms used by Carlo Giuliano as specialist case makers.

Condition

In fair to good condition. Slight tarnish to the wirework and texturing of the gold at the top of the bangle and at the seams on the underside. Light scratches and abrasions and a dent near the hinge, consistent with wear and age.
